A career in image-guided care.
Clinical practice, research and teaching inform how I approach each patient’s care.
At an international interventional radiology meetingPROF. ATHANASIOS DIAMANTOPOULOS
Professor of Interventional Radiology.
I am a consultant at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and Professor (Hon) of Radiology at King’s College London. My clinical interests include peripheral arterial disease, complex limb intervention, venous disease and minimally invasive image-guided treatments.
I trained in medicine in Patras, Greece, and continued my interventional radiology career in London. Alongside clinical work, I contribute to research, teaching and international professional education.
Academic work matters in practice because it asks us to test ideas, question assumptions and keep improving care. A consultation is also an opportunity to explain evidence and uncertainty in terms that make sense for the individual patient.
